Limehouse

AA-oct29-DLR142.jpgHistory: The design of St Anne's Church in Commercial Road was the inspiration for Victorians to make tiered wedding cakes. The various pubs outside the station include the Queen's Head in which the Queen Mother pulled pints, initially during the second world war and again in 1980 after a pub refurbishment.

Station: The station is being modernised to allow it to accommodate three-carriage trains, so it is a bit of a building site at the moment. The overhaul will improve access and increase the number of seats available. You can change here for the C2C service. Limehouse is in Zone Two and just three stops from Canary Wharf on the Bank branch.

What's there: Narrow Street is a short stroll from Limehouse station. Here you can sample the ale at The Grapes or dine at Gordon Ramsey's gastropub The Narrow. Converted art deco cinema The Troxy in Commercial Road has hosted the likes of Jarvis Cocker in recent months.
