East London ethical fashion brand Why So Serious is one of 150 businesses shortlisted for the next stage of Virgin Media Business Pitch to Rich 2015.
Founded by UEL graduate Terri Finnegan and inspired by cultures and trends from across the globe the public vote saw her firm beat 4,850 others.
Next up, her application will need to stand out for a panel of industry heavyweights including Virgin CEO Richard Branson and model David Gandy.
“I hope it impresses them - it’s an ethical brand but in a different way to what people expect.
“Sometimes people think it means looking at the people that work in factories but this is giving back to individual charities on a cultural level.
“I hope Jo Malone would be interested in that and David Gandy, as he’s very involved in that.
“Hopefully they will see the good in it.”
The panel will whittle down the applications to 30 on June 2.
Then voters will again play a role in deciding the 10 winners who will scoop a share of £1million in advertising campaigns, mentoring and investment
Terri added: “Everyone’s been so supportive and tried their hardest to get me votes.
“I think most people have been in a similar position before - there’s probably a time they’ve had to get the support of a lot of people, maybe raising money for charity.
“It’s really exciting - just nerve-wracking as well.”
