Cutty Sark

AA-oct15-cuttysarkDLR.jpgHistory: The station is named after the 19th century tea clipper that has been in dry dock in Greenwich since 1954. The ship is currently under major restoration after a fire caused serious damage but is scheduled to reopen next year.

Station: Built in 1999, Cutty Sark is a relative youngster on the DLR. Just over 10 minutes from Canary Wharf the station is underground but disabled access is provided by a lift.

What's there: This is the stop for Greenwich market, the Maritime Museum and Royal Naval College. Greenwich Park is a short walk from the station and if you are feeling energetic you can climb the hill to the Royal Observatory for spectacular views over London. Quirky independent boutiques, gift shops and craft stores are within easy reach. The immediate area also boasts a wealth of pubs and restaurants serving Mexican, Vietnamese and Italian cuisine
