Sophie Smallhorn - Colourbands (2004)

Bold blocks of colour make a dramatic entrance to the Underground Station from Canada Place Mall.

Floor to ceiling, the irregularly arranged rectangles dominate the area.
Geometric patterns constructed using a subtly varied palette dominate the work of Sarah Smallhorn.
The Hertfordshire born sculptor studied furniture design at Brighton College before turning coloured off cuts from her designs into art. Colourbands has no scientific theory behind its creation but incorporates chance elements to take the viewer on a complex visual journey.
Sarah has exhibited all over the world. In 2004 she showed an installation in One Canada Square.
