Here are charts for each city, showing at a glance how much quicker it is to get the train from London to different stations compared with travel by car.

Passenger satisfaction with rail services still varies too widely across Britain, said a transport watchdog.

The National Rail Passenger Survey (NRPS) is one of the largest satisfaction surveys of rail passengers in the world. It found that, in autumn 2013, overall satisfaction with rail services was 83 per cent.

London Overground Dalston-Croydon received 91 per cent rating and South West Trains London services 83 per cent.

Appeal over indecent touching on Greenwich train

Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to after a woman was touched inappropriately on a rush-hour train.

The suspect boarded at Plumstead and sat next to the victim before opening a newspaper and touching her underneath it.


A serial sex attacker has avoided prison after indecently touching three women on the Underground.

Cahal McDonnell, 45, of Bostall Park Avenue in Bexleyheath had earlier pleaded guilty to the sexual assaults, including one incident on the Jubilee line last year.


Transport police have released images of a woman filmed being racially abusive on an Underground train in Tower Hamlets.

The footage of the incident, which took place eastbound on the District line, was most recently uploaded to YouTube on April 11 this year.
