A Government bill to crack down on "town hall Pravdas" has cleared its final Parliamentary stage in the House of Lords.


The sale of Old Poplar Town Hall is under investigation after Tower Hamlets councillors claimed a cut-price deal had cost taxpayers millions.

The building was sold as office for £867,000 - little more than a terraced house nearby - and its value was further increased when developers were given clearance to become a hotel - a decision made without the scrutiny of elected councillors.


Affordable housing on the Isle of Dogs will be put under the spotlight as councillors decide whether to allow an amendment to tenure at Indescon Court.

Members of Tower Hamlets Council's Strategic Development Committee will meet tonight, (Thursday) to discuss a variation to a Section 106 agreement at phase two of the site, at 20 Millharbour.

Residents fighting to protect the future of an Isle of Dogs Park are celebrating after the latest application to develop a section of the site was withdrawn.
