A historic pub on the doorstep of Canary Wharf could be rebuilt as part of plans for a residential block.

The North Pub at Manilla Street on the Isle of Dogs was closed earlier this year by owners of the site. However, a planning application has been put in to Tower Hamlets Council for a public house under an eight storey tower.

A man has died on Westferry Road following reports of a wall collapsing at a building site.

Police said the man, believed to be in his 30s, died at the scene of the incident at around 9am on Wednesday morning.
