A Poplar man has been found guilty of the murder of his cousin following a minor family dispute that quickly escalated.

Paul Hamilton, 30, of Woodstock Terrace, was yesterday handed a sentence of life with a minimum of 26 years for killing 32-year-old Liam Hamilton, after he was fatally stabbed in the back with a large kitchen knife.

Detectives in Newham have released an artists' impression of a distinctive facial tattoo in an appeal for information about an allegation of rape near Star Lane DLR station.

The image - which depicts a skull and crossbones design on the suspect's right cheek - forms part of a request for witnesses to come forward following an attack on a teenager walking to Canning Town Station following an all-night rave in Cody Road.

A Tower Hamlets woman was the victim of an assault as she walked to a Tube platform with her friend.

British Transport Police (BTP) has released an image of a man they want to speak to in relation to the unprovoked incident, which happened on October 17 in Mornington
Crescent Underground Station, at about 7.40pm.

Detectives from the Flying Squad have appealed for witnesses to an attempted smash-and-grab at Westfield Stratford City after comments about the incident were posted on a social networking site.

Men armed with axes and hammers were seen approaching a ground-floor jewellers and smashing its window just after midnight on September 5, and were arrested at the scene before any goods were stolen.
