Next month sees Thames Clippers begin a service from Blackfriars to Putney.

The company, which also runs boats from central London to Canary Wharf and North Greenwich, last year won a five-year contract from Transport for London to operate the west London service.

DLR hostage man jailed

A teenager who held a trainload of DLR passengers hostage because he wanted police to shoot him, has been jailed for five years.

Mohammed Hussain, now 20, of Swedenburg Gardens in Shadwell, pleaded guilty to false imprisonment and possession of an offensive weapon at an earlier hearing.
