A £120million initiative to bring calm and direct cycle paths to inner London will kick off with a link from Waterloo to Greenwich.


Approval could be sought for the Silvertown Tunnel next year, according to Transport for London's latest consultation on the project.

Released to the public on Wednesday, the document focuses on designs for the crossing, planned for next to the Blackwall Tunnel and running between Greenwich and Newham.


Trains will run throughout the night on the Jubilee line from September 12, 2015, Transport for London has announced.

It is one of five lines - alongside the Victoria, Piccadilly, Central and Northern - included in the 24-hour service, which will run at weekends.


A train crossing over the Thames at Barking Riverside and a bridge for cyclists and pedestrians at Rotherhithe are being supported by London's Liberal Democrats.


Sunday's Prudential RideLondon race promises major disruption across the capital's roads and Tower Hamlets, Newham and Greenwich will not be spared.

The race passes from the Olympic Park to central London via Canary Wharf and closures will begin at 5am.
