The Met Police is looking into providing protection for those giving evidence at the upcoming High Court challenge against the Tower Hamlets mayor following allegations of anonymous threats.

The internet can prove difficult for politicians. Earlier this month I received a call from a councillor colleague in Norfolk informing me of a press release issued by Tristram Hunt, Labour's shadow education secretary.

In this, Mr Hunt strongly criticised the annual spending by this Government of pupil funding in Tower Hamlets, which is up to twice that in Suffolk and Norfolk.
