The tech incubator space in the heart of Canary Wharf, Level39, has marked its first birthday.

It comes as management at the hub, based on the 39th floor of One Canada Square, revealed 682 firms had applied for membership in the first 12 months - highlighting huge demand from global tech companies for residence in London.

The seed finance, to be made available to about 400 entrepreneurs across the capital during the next 12 months, will be delivered by Start Up Direct, also based in the Shoreditch hub.

East London's Tech City was given a huge boost on Friday, with the Government revealing a fast-track visa programme to get top technology talent into the UK.

Prime Minister David Cameron is visiting the East End to make the announcement, which will also see a £15.5million fund for innovative firms.
