A Canning Town woman who disguised herself in a Muslim veil and threw acid in her friend's face has been found guilty of the attack and faces a "substantial jail term".

Snaresbrook Crown Court was told Mary Konye, 21, pictured, prepared the attack "for months, even years" after falling out with Naomi Oni.

A race between two men, which saw cars reach 78mph in a 40mph zone along Aspen Way, left an Aston Martin Vantage an unrecognisable wreck after it crashed into a concrete wall.

Both men miraculously escaped unhurt in the incident and on Thursday avoided a spell in prison as well after being given suspended sentences.

A fraudster who tried to con Tower Hamlets Council out of over £800,000 has been sent to prison.

Olakunle Fayomi, 35, of Waterhead Close in Erith, Kent, attempted to divert, to a fraudulently obtained bank account which he controlled, borough payments meant for contractors.

A homeowner was horrified when they returned from holiday to find a group of homeless people had moved into their property.

The offenders broke into the address in Narrow Street, Limehouse, last October, drunk expensive bottles of wine and ate food from the fridge. They also left dog excrement all over the inside of the house.

A youth community worker has been sent to prison for a gang attack which left a teenager with stab wounds to his head, a fractured eye socket and a fractured back.

In a trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court, Hashu Miah, 24, of Triton House in Cahir Street, was found guilty of grievous bodily harm with intent over the incident on the Isle of Dogs in February.
