Councillors rejected the chance to overturn their decision on the 50-storey Skylines development on the Isle of Dogs.

The scheme was turned down on the grounds of height and density. Developers can now lodge an appeal or hope London Mayor Boris Johnson steps in to overall the council.


The contentious Skylines development will return to Tower Hamlets council next week with planning officers still recommending approval.

The proposal by ZBV & Skylines for the 50 storey development was rejected by councillors last month following concerns over a host of issues around the scheme's scale.


Developers planning to build a huge tower on the site of the City Pride pub have been warned to scale down their proposals after Tower Hamlets Council rejected the nearby Skylines Village due to concerns over its size.

The proposed Skylines development at the Isle of Dogs was rejected by Tower Hamlets Council's planning committee on Thursday night.


A proposed 50-storey development previously deferred due to opposition from groups including the borough's own environmental health team will return to council next week.

Tower Hamlets planning officers had urged the committee to back the controversial Skylines scheme last November but decided to pull it mid-meeting after scrutiny from councillors.
