Thanks to successive governments, schools in Tower Hamlets, overall, have an excellent reputation.

I know this from the regular invitations I receive from George Green's, the Isle of Dogs secondary school.

The High Court has rejected Tower Hamlets' second legal challenge to the Government's moves to instal commissioners in the Town Hall to oversee some aspect of the council's functions.

An earlier hearing had called the application for a judicial review of the decision "hopeless" but Mayor Lutfur Rahman's administration pushed ahead with an oral hearing anyway.

Over recent weeks, the Isle of Dogs has been subject to continuous traffic hold-ups caused by roadworks, in one case resulting from damage to a sewer.

Near Westferry Circus there was a temporary traffic signal next to a bus stop.

On September 11, voters in Newham's Beckton ward elected a new councillor.

The count was quick, efficient, and conducted in a calm and quiet manner. Polling stations were, as we would expect, equally calm and quiet too.
