Iexpect many people will be glad that the local elections are over after months of people ringing their doorbell and putting leaflets through their letterbox. I'm disappointed with the mayoral result. John Biggs was a fantastic candidate who, above all, would have brought transparency to the council.

Labour MP Andy Burnham has criticised the Government for the "disproportionate" number of doctor surgeries under threat in Tower Hamlets.

The Shadow Health Secretary visited the Jubilee Street Practice on Commercial Road on Tuesday to speak to one of five health centres in the borough that say they are under severe strain due to changes introduced to NHS funding.

Last week I had a minor op on my hand over at the Royal London. In between recovery and emailing one handed I've had the opportunity as an outpatient to think about our health service. I'm sure we all spare a thought for the NHS often when not a week goes by without a headline or story.

With early diagnosis, the right combination of drugs and aggressive treatment the disease is curable.

lutfurrahman.jpgI have been extremely concerned to learn that Barts NHS Trust has been put under special financial measures as a result of the severe financial challenges it now faces. Tower Hamlets Clinical Commissioning Group believes the crisis owes much to the short-sighted Private Finance Initiative of the last Labour Government and the massive cuts dressed up as "efficiency savings" courtesy of the Conservative-led coalition.
