Charlton's unbeaten run stretched to nine games after battling out a draw with a much-fancied Middlesbrough side at The Valley.

In a largely lacklustre game it took the Addicks until injury-time to get a shot on target but it was a moment which nearly saw them nick the points.

Middlesbrough came from a goal down at The Valley to win by a canter against a Charlton side still looking for their first home win since the second game of the season.

It all started so well for the south-east Londoners. Charlton were looking dangerous on
the counter-attack and that was the key to the opening goal.

An early goal from Freddie Piquionne and an injury time strike from substitute Carlton Cole earned the Irons all three points against their Championship promotion rivals and left manager Sam Allardyce a happy man.
