Sam Allardyce admitted he was a relieved man after his side got a morale-boosting win over Fulham on Saturday.

A goal from man of the match Mohammed Diame, followed by strikes from substitutes Carlton Cole and Joe Cole gave West Ham a 3-0 win over their London rivals at Upton Park.

Goals from Mohammed Diame, Carlton Cole and Joe Cole, secured a valuable victory against London rivals Fulham at Upton Park on Saturday.

Fulham have not beaten West Ham in east London since 2002 and have now conceded nine goals in their last three games.

West Ham have signed former Fulham striker Mladen Petric until the end of the season.

The 32-year-old Croatian left the Cottagers in the summer after a one-year contract expired but failed to land another club. He scored five goals in 23 appearances.

West Ham's poor run of form continues with a 3-1 loss at Fulham, who switch places with them in the Premier League table.

The Hammers are without a win since New Year's Day and find themselves 13th. Meanwhile, they are hoping to see out the transfer deadline day without losing midfielder Mohamed Diame.

Andy Carroll made such a significant impact on West Ham's strike force that, after he limped off with a hamstring injury, Sam Allardyce was already feeling his absence.

The new No.8 linked up well with Kevin Nolan in a confident and hungry display that suggests the loan spell could prove providential for both parties.
