It was the days when the East End was notorious for its criminals and their rackets. But if you ask those who lived through the swinging '60s, many will look back misty-eyed.

Bob Dixon's new book, Bobby On The Beat, documents his time in the police force working out of Limehouse station. He said it was a time in his life he loved.

Containing a vast array of colourful characters, '60s east London was a fascinating place to be.

Isle of Dogs resident Alfred Gardner remembers that period fondly and has recorded his memories in a book, published by Fonthill Media.

A man who booked female escorts before robbing them at knifepoint has been jailed for nine years.

Mutaher Hussain, 23, of Jamaica Street in E1, stole cash and telephones from two women before being identified by police using CCTV and mobile phone data.
