The Queen's Diamond Jubilee is upon us, and I'm delighted to say that the event is going to be celebrated in a traditional East End fashion, with plenty of street parties and bunting.
I am going to be attending as many as these events as I can, and am also looking forward to the grand river pageant that will pass through our borough.
Beacons will be lit across London to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee this weekend, including four in the Royal Borough of Greenwich.
The O2 entertainment venue, Woolwich, Eltham and Maritime Greenwich have all been confirmed for the ceremony at 10pm on June 4, just before the head of state lights the National Beacon.
Tower Hamlets has failed in its bid for City status.
The borough was beaten by Chelmsford, Perth and St Asaph who have been awarded the Queen's Diamond Jubilee civic honour Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg announced today.
