Igor Mitoraj - Centauro (1994)
Igor Mitoraj's statuesque works are displayed in parks, courtyards and squares all over the world. Canary Wharf is home to three of his surreal sculptures. Centauro can be found in Montgomery Square.

This partially complete centaur, dressed for battle with male torso under hoof is characteristic of Mitoraj's work.
The Polish sculptor studied painting at the Krakow School of Art. He takes inspiration from ancient Greek and Roman mythology and the fragility of the human condition.
Most recently his work has been part of Citygarden, an urban garden in St Louis, USA which opened last month. He lives in Italy.
