Cable car completion date still a mystery

Cable cars are regularly flying across the Thames as safety testing continues on the next river crossing.

However, Transport for London is still refusing to confirm whether it will be open to the public for the beginning of the Olympics in 10 weeks' time and instead said it was working to a "summer deadline".

British Airways is resuming flights from London City Airport to the Isle of Man from the end of this month after a five year break.

The move fills the void created by Aer Arann when it pulled out of the route last month to focus on a newer business model.

Canary Wharf Group is in discussions with a campaign group for an alternative route through Westferry following the closure of a much used riverside walkway.

The company had to close the path alongside the JP Morgan-owned construction site in order to carry out works to strengthen the riverbank wall.

Called Enderby Wharf, the major regeneration scheme is due to be finished in 2014.

And one expert in the cruise liner industry said Greenwich was set for a major financial boost as the first big ship terminal in the capital.

The Wharf's 4.30pm Travel Update

Any Problems? Aside from a suspension on the District line between Dagenham East and Upminster due to a signal failure at the latter, public transport is running as normal.

The roads are also fine, with no serious jams reported in the whole of the Capital.

Juggling a gruelling training schedule while working part-time as a management consultant would be far from ideal preparation for the upcoming Olympics.

But it's a scenario 29-year-old Deirdre Ryan was facing until London City Airport stepped in with a sponsorship package.
