Cable car completion date still a mystery

Cable cars are regularly flying across the Thames as safety testing continues on the next river crossing.

However, Transport for London is still refusing to confirm whether it will be open to the public for the beginning of the Olympics in 10 weeks' time and instead said it was working to a "summer deadline".

Alex and the story of the Olympic Flame

Alex Loukos, from Newham, is 19 now but he can still represent the youth of London, a role he first undertook in 2006 when he went to Singapore to support London's bid for the Olympic Games.

He had all the credentials - the son of a Greek immigrant born in a downtrodden borough - he could encapsulate the hope, the inclusivity and the legacy of the 2012 dreams.

Talks continue over Westferry walkway closure

Canary Wharf Group is in discussions with a campaign group for an alternative route through Westferry following the closure of a much used riverside walkway.

The company had to close the path alongside the JP Morgan-owned construction site in order to carry out works to strengthen the riverbank wall.

Mayor Boris Johnson is celebrating his re-election but he can expect some heavy flak coming his way from London Assembly members throughout his next term.

The Conservative candidate edged past Labour's Ken Livingstone in last Friday's vote for the capital's top political post.

Canary Wharf puts Games arrangements to the test

Canary Wharf may be quieter for the next couple of days. A two-day stress test has given companies an opportunity to check their contingency arrangements for the London Olympics.

Employees are being encouraged to try alternative travel and working hours as well as check on their home office operations.
