Drawing visitors in, two sets of gates enclose the gardens at the centre of Westferry Circus.

Designed by Giuseppe Lund, the gate and railings were inspired by the changing seasons. Flowers intertwine from a single stem, climbing a substantial metal trellis.

The organic form and distinctive flowers nod towards the work of Czech decorative artist Mucha. Fascinated by the sensual qualities of metal, Lund combines traditional methods with modern techniques.

Lund has been working in metal for more than 25 years and was heavily involved in the development of creative metal work in the UK. He has also worked alongside the crafts council, advising on its ironwork education programme.

In the ’80s he facilitated an exhibition of forged iron work at London’s Victoria and Albert museum.
