Royal Docks

The three Royals – Victoria, Albert and George VI – formed the largest enclosed docks in the world with a water area of nearly 250 acres (1.0 km2) and an overall estate of 1,100 acres (4.5 km2). Closed in 1981, they have become a burgeoning enterprise zone as well as home for London City Airport, the Excel Centre and University of East London.
