Being surrounded by tall towers, sometimes it can be hard to find somewhere to have a drink in the sun - which is the last thing you want with our limited British summer time.

We followed the sun around the Wharf and found the best places to get a drink while remaining in the glorious British heat throughout the day.

10am: Canteen

As one of the very few establishments that gets sun at this time of the day, Canteen is perfect for a quick morning business meeting or leisurely brunch in the sun.

If you visit at a more respectable drinking time, try the Apple Martini, which is made with freshly pressed British apples.

12pm: Ibérica La Terraza

'Only mad dogs and Englishmen stay out in the midday sun' Often true. And they (the Englishmen) often couple that with getting drunk.

Drink sensibly and relax on Ibérica La Terraza at midday, where there's plenty of tables in the shade or the sun where you can enjoy an unusually tasty beer sangria.

2pm: CNTNR

With plenty of grassland to relax within and surrounded by water, CNTNR (container without the vowels), is a great place to go for an early lunchtime drink.

Having moved in just last month, it's likely it will only be there for a year as the whole of Wood Wharf is being redeveloped - so get there while you can.

4pm: Via

Get ahead of the post-work crowd and grab a seat at any of the bars along this stretch of West India Quay, but Via is a great place for work drinks, with long tables that should fit any work group on and plenty of sharing platters to line your stomachs.

6pm: Canary Wharf Four Seasons

For a quieter alternative to the strip of bars along West India Quay head to the Four Seasons, where the small terrace is a hidden gem of tranquility.

There's a great range of Italian food as well for anyone looking for a spot of dinner with post-work drinks and a great range of cocktails - including the Cucumber Summer Cup and the Pop Rocks Daiquiri.

8pm: 28 Bar West

Watch the sun set over the Thames at this relatively new bar by the river, with views of The Shard and the City.

The bar also offers British grub and all your standard cocktails like mojito and cosmopolitan.
