Properties housing Usain Bolt and friends during the 2012 Olympics have been converted into homes for east London residents.

Developer Land Lease has announced the completion of the final plot at the former Athletes' Village meaning all 2,818 properties in East Village have been handed over to the Olympic Delivery Authority.

Residents headed into the first phase of 1,250 homes last November.

Alan Bates, Lend Lease's project director at East Village and executive general manager for private sector construction, said: "The transformation of these legacy homes from the Athletes' Village into East Village has been a monumental project for the UK, and the pace at which it has moved has made it one of the most challenging ever undertaken.

"During this final phase our team were delivering an average of 85 homes each week over eight months, allowing residents to immediately move into their new homes, an incredible accomplishment for a site of this size."

East Village forms part of the Stratford City Masterplan and is part of the mixed-use development on the Olympic Park known as The International Quarter.
