Popstar Jessie J is set to headline a feminist festival in Shoreditch on Sunday.

Girl Effect Live is being held to highlight the role of women in breaking the cycle of global poverty and includes a variety of activities to both celebrate and educate youngsters about the aspirations and opportunities of those living with less.

The event, held at a variety of venues in and around Brick Lane, comes just ahead of the first Girl Summit two days later, which is being held to combat female genital mutilation. Footage from Girl Effect will be screened at the summit.

Jessie will take to the stage during the evening, supported by Sasha Keable and special guests at Village Underground.

She said: "Living in the UK, we're fortunate we have the opportunity to strive for and fulfil our full potential, but this isn't the case for many girls living in poverty.

"I am involved in Girl Effect Live, because I want to take a stand with other girls in the UK to inspire, recognise and celebrate the amazing potential of girls everywhere."

The event starts at 1pm, with spoken word performances from Dizraeli, comedienne Mae Martin.

Limited edition Girl Effect necklaces by Tatty Devine and exclusive nail art by Wah Nails will also be on offer.
