British Airways regional airline CityFlyer has taken delivery of two new Embraer 190 jets.

The 98-seat aircraft will be based at LondoN City Airport and takes the CityFlyer fleet to 17.

The short-haul jets have been flown over from Embraer's factory in Brazil, via Recife and Tenerife.

Luke Hayhoe, British Airways' general manager commercial, who was on the flights from Brazil, said: "These new aircraft really do strengthen our position as the largest airline at London City Airport allowing us to add new routes and extra frequencies to business destinations such as Amsterdam and Edinburgh, as well as more flights to popular leisure destinations including Palma, Ibiza and Faro.

"Our customers really like the aircraft, they are quiet and spacious, and we have had some excellent feedback.

"Although it was a long flight home from Brazil, with two night stops, it was actually an extremely comfortable journey."

BA CityFlyer, which has all its aircraft based at London City, has a mix of Embraer 170 and 190s.
