An $8.5million sum seized by police from Newham flat
A cash sum amounting to $8.5million was seized by police at a flat in east London yesterday, Wednesday.
Officers in Newham were called to a property in Wards Wharf apartments in E16 after a large quantity of cash - amounting to £5.1million - was discovered by bailiffs executing a warrant.
The money was seized and is awaiting authentication.
A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of money laundering and released on bail to a date in mid-August, pending further enquires.
Detectives from Newham are investigating.
