Police make election arrest in Tower Hamlets

A 38-year-old man from Tower Hamlets has been arrested over allegations relating to a potential false declaration on a nomination paper.

The incident is related to the upcoming local elections to be held next Thursday.

The man was taken into custody at a north London police station and bailed to reappear in late June.

Police are carrying out further investigation and the borough's electoral returning officer has been informed.

Meanwhile, a 33-year-old man from Enfield was arrested over allegations relating to the north London borough.

Police say the incidents are not linked.
