Struggling job seekers celebrated graduating from a training and development programme after learning all the necessary skills to find work.

UK-wide leadership development organisation UpRising offered intense training over two weeks for east London graduates who have been on Job Seekers Allowance for more than 13 weeks.

The programme, called Fastlaners, is designed to equip graduates with the knowledge, skills, contacts and confidence to find meaningful employment.

The first cohort of graduates celebrated at Level 42 of One Canada Square at an event hosted by MP for Bethnal Green and Bow Rushanara Ali, who co-founded UpRising in 2008.

Fastlaners is also supported by Canary Wharf Group, which provided mentors and support at startup incubator hub Level39.

Rushanara said: "East London still has very high graduate unemployment. I am therefore delighted Canary Wharf Group is providing active support to UpRising's Fastlaners programme to help unemployed young graduates into work."
