Elderly woman has jaw broken in brutal street attack

A 75-year-old woman on a mobility scooter was left with a broken jaw after being repeatedly punched in the face.

The attack happened at Grangewood Street in Newham just before midday on Friday, May 16. Police are appealing for information on the attack.

Detective Constable David Pearce from Newham CID said: "Both the victim and her family are deeply shocked by this completely unprovoked assault on a vulnerable elderly lady going about their business."

A 37-year-man was arrested on May 24 on suspicion of actual bodily harm and has been released on bail until July.
