Boris Johnson chose Canary Wharf to pledge his support to the Conservative Tower Hamlets mayoral candidate Chris Wilford on Tuesday.

Commuters seemed oblivious to the London Mayor as they rushed for their Tube trains on the first day of the 48-hour strike.

Meanwhile, Mr Johnson posed for photos with Mr Wilford and Blackwall and Cubitt Town councillor Peter Golds before recording a YouTube video on his support.

The Tower Hamlets mayoral vote takes place along with the local and European elections on May 22.
