Thor's hammer lands at Greenwich
It appears someone has been a bit careless with their giant hammer.
The weapon seemingly from Thor, the god of thunder and lightning, is currently embedded in the ground outside Devonport House in Greenwich.
Unsurprisingly it was astronomers from the Royal Observatory who were among the first to notice the new arrival, announcing on social network site Twitter: "It has come to our attention that Thor of Asgard has left his giant hammer by Devonport House Greenwich."
The striking piece of art is only temporary, however. It arrived at the De Vere Venues site - which offers meeting rooms, conference space and accommodation - on Friday to coincide with a visit from American press to the area this week.
It is believed Disney is behind the stunt.
It is likely to leave before the weekend.
Greenwich, and especially its Old Royal Naval College, was heavily featured in the film Thor 2, which was released in cinemas last year.
The weapon has caused a stir on Twitter.
