Poplar shisha bar closed over anti-social behaviour
A shisha bar which has disrupted the lives of nearby residents for being too loud and attracting anti-social behaviour has been closed for six weeks.
Thames Magistrates Court made the order against Canopy at Bloomfield Street on February 13.
Tower Hamlets Council had encouraged the decision after receiving two petitions from residents, one including 164 signatures.
London Fire Brigade had also raised concerns about the bar
Lutfur Rahman, Mayor of Tower Hamlets, said: "The court agreed that this premises was a persistent source of anti-social behaviour which was disturbing residents."
Cllr Ohid Ahmed, Deputy Mayor of Tower Hamlets, said: "I hope that this closure order brings local residents some relief."
It will be allowed to reopen on March 27.
