Photos of top of the range bikes stolen after a show at the Excel earlier this month have been released in a bid to catch the thieves.

The owners of the bikes made a plea for assistance last week and offered £100k for information leading to their recovery.

Now police have also launched an appeal. It comes after two vans containing £300,000 worth of triathlon goods were stolen from the Travelodge car park in Dockside Road in the Royal Docks on February 17.

The high value specialist bikes included models by Giant, Cervelo, Cannondale, Scott, Neil Pryde and Wilier. There were also bike accessories in the vans , as well as TYR wetsuits.

The days previous Somerset firm Tri UK had shown the equipment at a bike show at Excel.

Detective Sergeant Tony Gambles from Newham CID said: "The white Ford vans' registration numbers were DY12 FJF and DV61 DJE. Both vans had trackers fitted but these were disconnected on the A13 shortly after the theft.

"Witnesses or anyone with information about this theft should call police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

"We understand that the owner of the equipment has offered a reward of up to £100,000 for information resulting in the safe recovery of the property and the successful prosecution of those responsible for the theft."
