Five rushed to hospital following A13 crash in Poplar

A collision between an Audi and a tanker lorry left five people injured on Tuesday morning.

The incident happened at about 3.30am at the A13 on East India Dock Road. All five were in the Audi and have been taken to hospital. Police said two of the patients are in a serious condition and one is in a life threatening condition.

They include two 18-year-old females, one with multiple injuries and the other with facial and leg injuries, a 22-year-old man with chest injuries and a woman of unknown age with multiple injuries. All have been taken to the Royal London Hospital.

A 22-year-old man is at Kings College Hospital being treated for head injuries.

Six ambulances and a number of other paramedics attended the scene, with fire crews cutting all five of those injured out of the Audi.

Police said no arrests have been made.

The incident saw the A13 closed at the junction of Leamouth Road for most of the morning.
