Woman dies after falling into canal near Olympic Park

Police are appealing for information over the death of a 36-year-old woman after she fell into a canal yards away from the Olympic Park.

Emergency services were called to the City Mill River, near to Marshgate Lane in Stratford, just before 7am on Sunday, January 19.

The woman was rescued from the water but died later at an east London hospital.

Police are not treating the incident as suspicious but are asking anyone who saw her prior to falling into the water to contact them.

The woman was described as white, approximately 5ft 5ins tall with dark brown shoulder length curly hair. She was wearing a pink cardigan, dark trousers and black shoes when she fell into the water.
