Carrot Cars reaches healthy one million milestone journey
With a rapidly-expanding fleet of vehicles and drivers, east London's Carrot Cars reached the healthy milestone of the one-million passenger mark this winter.
Account manager Adam Wiltsher said the South Quay-based business - which operates on a 'cheap, clean and reliable' motto - had attracted a loyal following from fellow E14 residents during the past four years.
One such customer is James Hunt, who made the millionth trip from his Limehouse home to north London, on Christmas Day last year.
"We knew we were coming close to the milestone, and that was really nice," said Adam, adding James would win £100 of Carrot Cars Gift Cards as a reward.
"We had an inkling because we were so close to Christmas but we were so busy over that period, we had been doing double jobs as well, but we were talking about it in the office."
With an initial drivers pool of 20, four years later the firm has 100 car staff on its books and recently moved into a larger office to accommodate more call centre operators.
And the resolution for 2014 is twofold - to continue expanding as well as ensuring they "look after" everyone in the Carrot Cars patch.
"What was being looked for was an increase in service standards - it was felt this was something that could be improved upon in this industry," said Adam, adding all staff wore uniforms and were fully-trained.
"Instead of going for the chauffeur driven car we stuck with minicabs, and provide a standard of service and upkeep of cars which has gone down really well.
"We work with some major hotels and restaurants in the Canary Wharf area and have contracts with them, and we concentrate on our area.
"Of course, we would love to be as big as Addison Lee, but if we do the basics right we are on the way."
