Blackwall Tunnel approach road set to remain closed at rush-hour
Traffic problems are likely to continue across east London due to a burst water main in the road leading to the Blackwall Tunnel.
Thames Water is working on the stretch southbound on the A12 between Bow and Poplar, which is currently closed to traffic.
Transport for London said it unsure when the road will be open. It said drivers should expect delays.
However, the Blackwall Tunnel is still open and can be accessed from the A13.
And queues on the A13 have eased following a lorry crash at Basildon earlier on Wednesday.
TfL had earlier stated the works were due to the road surface breaking up. It later revealed this was caused by the water from the burst main.
Garrett Emmerson, chief operating officer for surface transport at TfL, said: "We are working closely with Thames Water, who have committed to work 24/7 to get the leak repaired as quickly as possible and have offered our own contractors to help them reopen the road as quickly as possible once it is safe to do so."
