Residents were evacuated from luxury tower Pan Peninsula after a fire broke out on Sunday morning.

It is the second blaze in three months at the 42-storey development on the edge of Canary Wharf. The previous took place at the home of One Direction singer Liam Payne.

The latest incident happened at 2.13am and saw four fire engines and 21 firefighters attend the scene.

Some of the residents in the floors above were forced out of the building.

The fire was brought under control by 2.58am and there were no injuries.

A small area in the apartment was damaged and fire chiefs believe the cause was an electrical incident.

The previous fire, which took place in September, began in the One Direction star's 34th floor apartment, and saw 80 per cent of his balcony destroyed.

That incident saw 30 people flee and three people treated for burns.

The singer is currently in America with his band.
