Match Report: Charlton 0 Blackpool 0
Charlton and Blackpool cancelled eachother out in a 0-0 draw at The Valley on Saturday.
It was the away side's fourth draw in a row and it never looked like being anything different in a game of very few chances.
Pre-match there was renewed optimism from the Charlton fans following the well-fought draw against Nottingham Forest in midweek and that transferred itself onto the pitch in the opening stages.
A Dale Stephens' free-kick from 20 yards out dipped just over Matt Gilks' crossbar two minutes in.
But it wasn't long before Blackpool got their neat passing game going and their first chance came after 22 minutes when Stephen Dobbie volleyed wildly over after a Ricardo Fuller knock-down.
Half-chances, or less than half-chances, filled much of the remainder of the half, until, a minute before the break, former Charlton striker Fuller leapt to head a throw-in towards goal that Ben Hamer had to dive full stretch to save.
After the break, Blackpool's Tom Ince curled a free-kick just wide of Hamer's post.
A scuffed shot from Simon Church from outside the box moments later represented the Addicks' first shot on target.
There was a gap of nearly 20 minutes until a great tackle from Jordan Cousins on Dobbie stopped the Blackpool striker as he was poised to shoot.
Neither side were able to create chances.
Long throws into the box from Blackpool and hoofs into the area from Hamer were the extent of the creativity on show.
It was clear it would take something special to break the deadlock and Cousins nearly provided it on 72 minutes. But the young midfielder's effort from range was turned round the post by Gilks.
And it was another 17 minutes till Ince nearly snatched it, dragging his shot wide after Lawrie Wilson gave away possession.
