Saltzburg Festival comes to Royal Docks' Crystal
Siemens is moving its Salzburg Festival to Newham's Royal Docks this weekend to celebrate the first birthday of its Crystal building.
The classical celebration includes performances of Verdi's Falstaff, La Traviata and Don Carlo, while - more suitable for children - Mozart's Magic Flute will also be shown.
Up to 300 ticketholders can attend the shows which are transitted on to a 100 metre square screen with excellent sound quality.
The not-for-profit event sees guests pay £5 to register and they then have the choice of whether to receive food and drink or donate the money to the Newham People's Trust.
• Lasting two hours and 10 minutes, Falstaff begins at 7pm tonight (Friday).
• Saturday sees a picnic between 11am and 4.30pm with La Traviata played in the background.
• Meanwhile Don Carlo starts at 4pm on Saturday and lasts four hours and 45 mins,
• On Sunday, the Magic Flute begins at 11am and lasts one hour and 46 minutes.
The Crystal is a £30million venue built by Siemens, which hosts exhibitions on sustainable urban development.
It has had over 100,000 visitors in its first year.
