Health and Fitness: Get the Sandra Bullock look
The Wharf's fitness columnist Laura Williams takes a look at the training routine of Sandra Bullock, star of upcoming action-comedy film, The Heat.
Will mixing your routines help you achieve better fitness levels?
The 48-year-old actress is sporting the skimpiest of numbers while promoting her latest film.
How she does it: "I do a lot of Pilates, kick-boxing and weight training in LA, and when I'm in Austin, Texas, I run or ride a bike," said the star of The Heat.
Do it for yourself: Having two different routines can be a great way to include all aspects of fitness in your life on a regular basis.
Bullock's routine when she's working in LA is more structured, whereas country workouts consist of outdoors activity.
You can try a version of this yourself if you want to top-up your weekday efforts at the weekend without spending too much time apart from your family.
A family bike ride, game of football or a quick, fast Sunday run are more sociable than heading to the gym for an hour or two.
But you can use the week to get your structured sweat minutes in so that you're working on fitness levels, boosting metabolism and strengthening muscles in your lunch hour.
Make those gym visits really count - work out which goal box each workout ticks and if it's not ticking at least three, think about replacing with something more efficient.
Kick-boxing and weight training are enjoyable and effective. The Wharf gyms all have excellent martial arts-based classes that will whip you into shape and help keep workout boredom at bay too.
