Police hunt duo after hit and run in Stratford

A man and a woman are in a critical condition after being hit by a car at a pedestrian crossing in Stratford.
The victims, believed to be in their 50s or 60s, were knocked down by a silver Lexus in the early hours of Sunday morning. They were taken by ambulance to an east London hospital.
The driver of the Lexus and a passenger got out following the incident at High Road before quickly returning to the vehicle and driving off.
The car was later found burnt out in Leywick Street, Stratford.
Detective Sergeant Joe Lock said: "I am appealing for anyone who saw this collision, or the events leading up to the collision, to come forward and speak to police.
"The High Road in Stratford is a busy place at this time of night on the weekend so I am sure there are people who will have seen this collision.
"If you have not already spoken to us, please get in contact - you may hold vital information to help trace those responsible."
The incident took place at five minutes past midnight on Sunday at the junction of High Road and Cam Road.
The people police are seeking are a fair or white haired man and a woman with dark hair.
