Charges over east London child rape allegation

Police have charged seven east Londoners over the rape of a girl under the age of 16.

All of the men, who are currently in custody, are due to appear at Thames Magistrates Court today. Two of the defendants are also facing sex trafficking charges.

Edward Kofi Edunyah, 23, of Artisan Close at Gallions Reach, has been charged with one count of rape.

Austin Odisi, 24, of Oxleas in Newham, has been charged with four counts of rape and four counts of oral rape, while Desmond Agyei, 23, of Kiwi Terrace in Brighton Road, E6, has been charged with three rapes, one oral rape, an attempted oral rape and trafficking to the UK for sexual exploitation.

Adedeji Atitebi, 21, of Lonsdale Avenue, in Newham, has also been charged with one count of trafficking for sexual exploitation. He has also been charged with voyeurism.

Justin Maynard, 23, of Bluebell Avenue, E12, has been charged with three counts of rape and two counts of oral rape.

David Sarpong, 23, of Cedar Close in Ilford, has been charged with two counts of rape and one count of attempted anal rape.

Perry Murray, 24, of Park Grove in E15, has been charged with one count of oral rape.

A 23-year-old arrested on suspicion of rape and sexual assault has been bailed until June.

Three other people arrested for fraud offences have been bailed until then as well.
