Greenwich police hunt mugger after attacks on women
Police are suspecting 15 robberies on women over an eight month period across Greenwich and Deptford could all be by the same man.
The incidents, many of which have involved knives and assaults, have taken place since June last year. They are looking for a black man, aged 40 to 50 and around 6ft 2ins tall.
Detective Constable George Esgaine of Greenwich Police said: "We have reasons to believe that these robberies are linked and may have been committed by the same person.
"We believe that this individual may be from the locality where he commits the offences - have you noticed anything or anyone suspicious?
"Even the smallest detail that you may consider irrelevant can help us with out with the investigation.
"We'd like to reassure residents that a full investigation is underway and that we are doing all that we can to catch this person."
The man usually approaches women from behind. Some were threatened with a knife while those who resisted were punched and kicked.
The attacks have taken place in Deptford Green, by St Nicholas and St Luke's Church, Stowage, Watergate Street, Benbow Street, Dryfield Walk, Oxstall Road, Warwickshire Path, Abinger Grove and Evelyn Street.
