Last year saw the Docklands Light Railway tested when the biggest sports event in the world came to town. But it passed with flying colours and has now announced it was the service's best year.

Figures showed 98.5 per cent of trains ran within three minutes of schedule and this peaked during the Olympics at 99 per cent.

Meanwhile, Kevin Thomas, previously engineer and projects director for DLR operator Serco Docklands, has become managing director for the train service.

Kevin joined the DLR team in 2011.
