Transport police arrested a couple following a bizarre domestic argument on the Docklands Light Railway track.

Officers arrived at Shadwell station to attend to reports of trespassers on the line just after 8pm on Tuesday evening.

They found a man and woman arguing. Both were detained and the DLR service suffered minor delays.

A spokeswoman for British Transport Police said: "Officers arrested a 51-year-old man on suspicion of trespass and common assault. A 44-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of trespass.

"They both remain in custody, helping officers with enquiries."

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40 quoting incident number 498 of 26/02/13.
